Do you love it when it begins to Snow and then when you wake up in the morning its 'white' everywhere....?
WELL, it was like this when i was a child , just remembering how it was back then....The children dragging their sleds up the hillsides , snowballs were pelted at passers by all good fun. Mothers getting the 'Broth' on the stove and carving warm crusty bread from the stove. Dads stoking up the roaring fire in the hearth while neighbours would shout over the wall "Do you need anything in the local shop as Mr Jones as 'opened up"...Warm coats and scarves adorned and furry boots as we trudged the crisp new fallen snow to get milk (even if we had some in the larder)... Icy cold air chapped at our faces , eyes half closed as we walked into the falling snow......with our heads down......everyone looked out for each other....Paths cleared for the elderly as small tumblers of 'whisky' were given by the thankfull residents to their 'helpers'....Front doors were left open even for strangers....and what we had we shared with each other....there was no thought of someone harming you or stealing....just friendliness and hospitality shown to everyone......WHERE HAVE THOSE DAYS GONE.....

When we lived in the snow I really enjoyed waking uop and seeing it fall from the sky. I loved to go outside and listen to its dead silence as it fell from the sky.

I love it when it's unexpected, as it was here this week. On 3rd April, I opened the curtains and saw that everything was covered in a thick blanket of white! It didn't last , the rain came later that day and by the next morning there was no sign there had ever been snow at all.

The first snow is always the best. It brings me memories of my childhood. We made snowcastles and we skied a lot. I even skied to the school. And of course we went down the hills by our sleds and threw snowballs. And as odd as it sounds it was never too cold to go out (- 25 degree Celsius).
But the twenty-first snow doesn´t feel so good, when I am carrying heavy shoppingbags in deep snow and it´s snowing more all the time and the wind is blowing. Maybe if the winter would´t be so long and cold here in Finland, I would like it more.
Maybe I´m becoming old but somehow I sometimes wish to be a child again. I wouldn´t have bills and taxis and more bills and fighting teenagers. I think it was easier to be a child 40 years ago than it is now.

I also miss waking up to see the ground and trees covered in the soft snow. Just sliding my boots and coat on and running out there for a little before being made to come back in. You would see all the kids in the neighborhood out playing in it. Whether it was sledding or snow ball fights or just building snow people. But sadly, now, kids would rather stay inside. Either playing on the PC, video games, or texting.
Even now, when my children and I go outside and play - we feel so strange because we are the only ones that go outside to have fun.

Ah too be young and carefree, we have become cynical with time, lost our innocence, and have lost the true meaning of life. It is a shame, as I believe these days are gone forever

I love to look at it, but I hate it because I work in a hospital and know I will be very busy with people falling over
