OtherGlad to see someone actually turning a bonus down - although i'm sure he would have suffered a whole heap of backlash if he hadn't. Why should bosses keep getting huge bonuses when we have had to bail them out in the first place??!!

I think he should have given it up without all the fuss about it. He should have said no from the start.

I think bonuses should be earned, only given to people who have worked hard, but the unpaid overtime in, gone out of their way to help a company stay afloat, very little time off ill, never late, etc.

Hi, Yes I am pleased he turned it down but it was probably only because of the huge outpouring of public opinion against him (or any other bankers) getting a bonus, remember this is just his bonus, he already gets a huge salary.

I do not think that there should be employment contracts that include performance related bonuses which is what his was. I think that there should be a salary and if the person in charge does exceptionally well maybe then there should be a bonus. I would like to see the wages for footballers cut as more and more clubs are raising their prices but no on seems to bother about that.

About time he should only take a bonus once the bank is in profit and not owned by the public.

It is only right to turn it down with the current situation we are in, better if they cut interest rates for us all

That is an obscene amount of money for a bonus. I bet he would have taken it if the bonuses hadn't been in the headlines
