We have at last agreed that we should have our en suite bathroom refitted - this is after about 3 years of discussion! I got in touch with a company that a lot of our neighbours had used and thought it would all be simple - not so. I think the guy has now been to see us four times over the last six weeks but at last we have decided on the sanitary ware, furniture, worktops, floor and wall tiles and lighting. I can now stop dreaming bathrooms every night. Any one else had anything major done?

My husband has recently been on a ‘breaking spree’ –albeit not intentional – at least I think so. The first thing he broke was the carafe on the filter coffee machine and boy did that take some clearing up. Then he dropped one of my favourite cups! The third thing which I found quite unbelievable was he snapped the handle on my favourite knife. He was cutting up a melon and the blade just snapped off by the handle. Hopefully that is his three now for a while.

As the phone companies want to erect a mast close to where I live we have recently been doing some research into the health effects of the masts and mobiles. There are a few studies that suggest that mobile phones can cause both cancer and fertility issues. If a mobile phone is continually left switched on in the breast pocket of a shirt or jacket it could be that you are more liable to develop breast cancer. If a mobile is in a trouser pocket it can increase the risk of fertility issues and testicular cancer. So it would seem that the safest place for a mobile is in a handbag not held close to the body. It would appear that the masts do not emit vast amounts of radiation but are of course the focus of fear.
