How long, on average, does it take for a CRB (criminal records check) to be completed?

I have recently had a job offer to work in a school as a teaching assistant, but am waiting for a CRB check. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long this process normally lasts? Thanks

When I applied for my CRB check it took almost four months for it to arrive which I believe was above the normal waiting period ☺

I think it's a bit of a ostcode lottery and varies by region. There was supposed to be a crack-down to speed up this, especially for volunteers, because while your waiting the group you want to help is missing out.

I think it varies, I've had them and they have taken 6 weeks and others have come through in 3 weeks. It also depends on the level of CRB check that you are having.

I suppose it depend who you go with, social services have lost ours again so God knows, we did everything we had to do, that was a year ago, now we are having to go through the whole process again, ut according to them we will only have to wait for a few weeks. Its a damned sight easier getting an alcoholi licence. That was easy.
