Amusing political party names.

Looking at the candidates names and parties that have stood in the latest UK council , mayoral and assembly elections , one stood out as being quite amusing.

In the London mayoral election there is a candidate named :-

Count Binface of the Count Binface party, who has so far collected 12,098 votes .
This is greater than Mandu Reid of The Women's equality party , who has so far received 10,523 votes.
It would seem that Londoners view Women's rights as quite a low priority. LOL.

Other notable candidates include Valerie Brown of the burning pink party.

I wonder if Count Binface has changed his name by deed poll ?

Have you ever considered changing your name ?

I have never liked my given name but have never seriously thought about changing it. I actually have two surnames, as my biological father died and my stepdad wanted me to easily change to it if I wanted to, but I never wanted to.
.
Count Binface is his space warrior name, not his given name (a bit like Superman/Clark Kent, sort of). :-)
.
Women's Equality Party is a dumb name and excludes rather than includes. If they shortened it to the Equality Party they would get more votes even if they initially concentrate of Women's issues.
.
The London Mayoral candidates were a mix of a lot of awful choices, including that Lawrence Fox bloke. Not surprising that nearly 60% if Londoners did not vote. I voted Green based on Climate Change.
.
It worries me that so much of the population still cannot find the will to engage in politics.

Will always remember Screaming Lord Sutch (3rd Earl of Harrow) and the Official Monster Raving Loony Party ~ he never did make an MP but may have enjoyed chart success ? Reply

No, I like my name! I find these weird parties and names very amusing- they add a bit of humour to a serious matter! Reply

No, though we know two people who have. One changed their surname because they were living with their OH (not really "allowed" in those days); the other changed their first name to get away from an abusive relationship and therefore changing address and part of identity. Reply

Of course,I have dropped my double barrelled version to more align myself with the lower middle classes that Ed is so disparaging of and I like to use another alter ego moniker of Honeyboy Zimba for some sites. Reply

Yes; I changed mine when I graduated Trent Poly; I didn't want my Dad's name ..... and again 16yrs ago I became Mrs S........ he'd been married twice that didn't work, my Step-dad was gone so no-one to give me away; but being Mrs S...... makes it easier and he'd been calling me his wife for a few yrs Reply
