Do you agree, food eating contests should be put to an end?

I say this, because it is so unhealthy to eat food that fast, too much food consumed at one time, and can cost lives by choking, and other abnormalities. Plus, they make themselves sick. I read this article about the recent lacrosse player, Madelyn Nicpon, RIP, she was only 20 years old, who died after choking in a food eating contest, and later died at the hospital. I've never understood these food eating contests. Why would anyone want to consume that much food in one sitting? I know, for a prize or money, but really, isn't enough, is enough of this kind of silliness, when it cost lives? I don't see the fun in it, do you?

Yes, they should be discontinued, actually banned. I always think someone's going to choke. Very sad. Reply

So unhealthy. I never heard of a person dying because of it though until now. But I suppose it is just as lethal as drinking too much alcohol at one sitting. I wish they would stop these binge-eating contests because it makes ME ill just watching it. Reply

I used to work at a restaurant that had its own eating challenging which consisted of a stacked burger made up five triple patties and single double along with cheese, toppings and fries. The guest had 30-minutes to finish. During the major event at the company headquarters, this was done on a larger scale; i.e. more participants.
_The shortest time was around five minutes and this was done by a female participant. Most of us didn't know about because we couldn't travel but one of the workers came across the video and shared it with us. Despite the impressive feat, we got a bit nauseated. They can try to ban it but I'm sure people will find a workaround.
