Omicron

Is Omicron here in Ireland.
I have received my booster vaccine shot, but now that this new variant is most likely to be here, do you think we have more worries?

Are you worried about how the new variants could impact the vaccination progress we've made? Reply

we have to find a balance between taking these new strains seriously but managing to live as full a life as possible. It seems when we catch up with covid, a new strain develops. But if we do our best and take all precautions we have to try to just get on with life . Reply

I haven't been called for booster yet and honestly I am not worried the whole thing has become a bit of a joke at this stage. Reply

'Is Omicron here in Ireland.'
Almost certainly. Possibly it is not here yet but this variant, like the original and all / most since, was on the move well before it was picked up on.
'I have received my booster vaccine shot, but now that this new variant is most likely to be here, do you think we have more worries?'
Not unless people want to spend a long time in a state of worrying. Like colds and the actual Flu this virus is prone to spawning new variants - Omicron seems to have milder effects if symptoms are experienced, and so we're just going to have to get used to Cov-19 and some deaths over it because it looks like it's not going away any time soon. The existing general precautions and personal measures should suffice to minimise exposure to it and the Flu. Shots and in development anti-viral medications when they become available significantly reduce symptom severity if infected. The alternative is some form of half life of isolation, conspicuous avoidance and living in constant stress which isn't sustainable or good for most over the long-term.
